Winters Cabin Landscape and Interiors
The landscape and interior design for this modern cabin with panoramic views of the Vaca Mountains, nut orchards, ancient oaks and grasslands of the Sacramento Valley, is an exercise in beauty and restraint. We created a fire resistant and drought tolerant landscape that would echo what is inherently beautiful about this particular part of Yolo County. Succulents, rushes and grasses provide year round color and interest without high water demands, and gravel, natural stone and corten steel feel contemporary yet just rustic enough to harmonize with the surrounding terrain. Inside, we designed a new guest room and bath that bring the warm greys of oak bark, and the golden tones of the grassland inside with custom cabinetry, tile work, textiles and furniture design. Burbank Ranch Vineyard and Winery
Burbank Ranch Vineyard and Winery is an 83-acre farm in Templeton California, not far from Paso Robles. The Ranch includes vineyards, a public tasting room, a private residence, and an agricultural manager's residence. The main residence is encircled with ribbons of Nassella tenuissima and Pennisetum spathiolatum, blurring fore, middle and background and connecting intimate garden spaces with the surrounding hills. Evergreen shrubs including dwarf olives, yucca and lavender mimic the oaks dotting the creek bottoms, and connect visitors of this spectacular winery to the larger landscape of rolling hills and the Santa Lucia Mountains. Ocean Beach Residence
Our family garden for active clients in San Francisco’s Cliff House and Vista Del Mar neighborhood features grasses, trees, stone and custom woodwork that bring to mind a day at the beach. A new deck, benches, pathways and built-in cedar tub provide the perfect spots to check the surf, take in the foggy coastline, and warm up after a day in the water. A simple outdoor shower is tucked into a privacy screen of bamboo, and jewel toned succulents provide color and texture to the space. Photos by Michael Jirkovsy Photography and Randi Johnsen.
Orinda Hills Residence
Our Orinda project features simple materials that complement a lovingly renovated modern farmhouse hilltop home for a busy family. Our custom designed shade structure was inspired by the clients' awning detail, and the olive trees, succulents, sages and grasses that surround the pool area and entry courtyard create an elegant, dry garden. Diamond Heights Garden

Mid-Century Poolscape and Atrium
This unique ranch style house in Davis, California, is surrounded by parkland, mature trees and located on a quiet cul de sac. Third Nature Studio worked with the owners to design a clean contemporary concrete pool deck, new enclosed spa, decking, furnishings and rehabilitate a gorgeous interior Atrium garden with a new focal point tree.

While our formal training is in Landscape Architecture, Third Nature Studio has advised clients on project elements ranging from interior fixtures, furnishings, and finishes, custom cabinetry, tile, hardware, lighting, water features, pool and spa details, paint colors, site planning, masterplanning, edible gardens, school gardens and more. Wild Oak Farms
This 14 acre project explores clean, modern farmhouse design in the beautiful, agrarian landscape of Yolo County. The property, known as Wild Oak Farms, is sited halfway between Davis and Woodland and is home to mature oaks, the Willow Slough wetland landscape, and is surrounded by acres of mature almond orchards. Third Nature Studio collaborated with Chris Corbett Design on master planning, landscape design, and developing and documenting a drought tolerant plant palette in the spirit of the local landscape.
